The objective of this project is to conceptualize a comforting environment tailored for adults undergoing treatment at the affiliated hospital. This space is meticulously crafted to evoke a sense of 'home away from home,' particularly for individuals residing at a distance from the medical facility. Opting for a Southern-inspired ambiance, I aimed to infuse warmth and familiarity into the design
The Frenchman House
Planning
The project called for the creation of 20 private rooms, segregated from the communal spaces. Each room is equipped with essential amenities to enhance the residents' comfort, including a fully equipped gym, a generously sized kitchen suitable for up to four people, a designated check-up area, laundry facilities, and inviting day rooms. Priority was given to ensuring ADA accessibility throughout the space, recognizing the potential need for wheelchair access due to treatment. Additionally, each resident is allowed to have one caregiver stay with them in their room.
